About St. Yves Press
Born to a noble family in 1253, Brittany, France, young Ivo, or Yves, developed a strong faith through his devout mother. He studied both civil and church law, and teachers and classmates admired his knowledge and humility. In his free time, he visited the sick in hospitals and read about the lives of the saints. Yves became a member of the Franciscan Third Order (for men not part of a monastery). He helped the poor, widows, and orphans, in the pursuit of justice above and beyond his duty. He became known as the attorney of the poor. His hagiography often depicts him holding a baby or child and a purse to signify his devotion to the care of vulnerable children through his earnings. St. Yves is the patron saint of attorneys and abandoned children.
Our press is named to honor St. Yves’ devotion to those in need. He used his legal knowledge and his faith to care for vulnerable widows and orphans. We draw inspiration from St. Yves to publish books, journals, and other works to encourage our readers to use their abilities to advocate for justice.
